Aqua Adventure Tours FAQ

Where are you located?

Our tours and excursions depart from several public and private locations throughout The Palm Beaches + South Florida. We’ll occasionally go as far south as Miami for special events, but most of our trips take place on coastal waters of Palm Beach County, southern Martin County and northern Broward County.

What should I wear?

Dress for the weather and an outdoor adventure. Winter days can feel much cooler on the water, and our summer heat can be pretty intense. Be comfy, and bring footwear that can get wet. Flips, sandals and water shoes are good choices. Leather shoes, high heels, platforms…not so much. Sunscreen is recommended year-round, and bring a hat if you need protection up top!

Is there a bathroom onboard?

No, but we can generally find one if it's urgent.

What should I bring?

Sunglasses, sunscreen, cameras, phones and binoculars are all good. Each pod seat had splash proof storage (4 inch x 12 inch openings + 16 inches deep) for your personal items. Feel free to bring any snacks you like. If you bring your own drinks, we do recommend you use a screw top container so the drink doesn't spill all over you at higher speeds.

What should I not bring?

No high-heels, platform or hard-soled shoes; no glass containers or alcohol on public trips; charter trips must clear alcohol in advance; no firearms, illegal drugs or smoking/vaping.

Do you have room for my cooler?

Unfortunately no. Space can get tight so we provide drinks from our own cooler. Guests are welcome to place their own drinks inside as room allows. Please be considerate of others who may also wish to use this space.

Do I need to bring lifejackets?

No. We supply life vests for all guests. Adult riders can wear one of our ultralight Mustang auto-inflating life vests. We have very comfortable Mustang survival vests for kids under15 years old.

Will I get wet?

We try to keep everyone dry but sometimes Mother Nature has other ideas, especially on windy or choppy days. We provide small towels. For paddling, snorkeling and wading trips, how wet you get is up to you.

Will I get seasick?

Seasickness is really rare on our inshore trips. Our offshore wildlife trips are less protected, and we’ll be moving very slowly when we're close to wildlife. Unfortunately, that's exactly what causes some people to get seasick. If you know you get motion sick, please consider taking a motion sickness remedy before you board. Several over-the-counter medicines are available at local drug stores and grocery stores. In our experience, OTC meds are generally more effective than pressure point or electronic wrist bands.

Do I need to know how to swim?

Nope. You can safely participate in any trip without knowing the first thing about swimming. All guests are required to wear a life vest when onboard and underway. Swimmers, snorkelers and paddlers wear vests as directed.

What's the recommended age range?

We’re open to all ages. To date our youngest guest is 2 months; our oldest is 92 years. Most kids enjoy it, and it's really great to see them having fun as we jump waves, take a tight turn, or see dolphins and other wildlife up close. But if your youngster frightens easily or gets super anxious in new situations, please consider a private charter instead. We'll have a lot more flexibility to help everyone have fun. Please be aware that kids need to be about 42” tall to safely sit on their own pod seat. Many 7-8 year olds are tall enough to reach the deck with their feet and hold the grab handles. Anyone who can't reach the deck or use the grab handles will need to sit on a bench seat for their own safety. Bench seating is limited to 6 people, first-come/first-served.

Do I need to buy tickets for children?

Yes, Coast Guard regs require all participants to be ticketed and issued a boarding pass to create an accurate passenger manifest.

Do you offer reduced prices for kids?

We do offer reduced prices for kids and teens on several trips. We also offer special rates for school groups and non-profit groups that focus on environmental education.

Are you ADA accessible?

Federal ADA regulations do not apply to vessels of our size and configuration. Although we are not mobility device accessible, we gladly try to accommodate the needs of all our guests. Please e-mail us to discuss your particular need and we'll be happy to discuss reasonable accommodations consistent with marine safety.

Can I still participate if I have a serious medical condition?

Our outings don't require extreme fitness, strength or flexibility, but this is also not your typical boat tour. If you have a serious health condition like heart or blood pressure problems, breathing difficulties, severe allergies, diabetes, epilepsy, vertigo, extreme anxiety, or other conditions which you control with medicine at the onset of symptoms, please consult your doctor before participating. You’re welcome to let us know of your condition in confidence at time of reservation or check-in. Please bring any meds you need with you.

Is the ride very rough?

RIBs really smooth out the bumps and deliver a fast, lively and fun ride. As with any boat ride, there will be turns, bumps and changes in acceleration and direction. Safety is always our primary concern, and we ask you to use your own discretion in deciding to participate. Those who are pregnant or are prone to head, neck, back, spine, skeletal or other pain or injuries are asked to be in stable condition and consult with their doctor before participating.

Is it safe to wear my contact lenses or glasses?

Definitely bring sunglasses or other eye protection, especially if you wear contact lenses. If you are wearing sunglasses, goggles or prescription eyewear, we recommend using sunglass straps.

What credit cards do you accept?

We accept VISA, MasterCard, AMEX, Discover, Diners Club, JCB.

Do you accept debit cards?

Sorry, we do not accept debit card payments at this time.

Can I pay cash for my tour or excursion?

We gladly accept cash payments dockide at check-in. However, in order to reserve your spot onboard, you’ll need to use our online reservation system to book and pay for your tickets in advance. Sorry, we can’t accept partial cash/partial credit payments...gives our bookkeeper terrible headaches!

Do you accept checks for payment?

Only for those groups who have established an account with us and with whom we have an ongoing business relationship.

What is your gratuity policy?

Tips are always appreciated. If you feel a tip is deserved, please feel free.

How early should I arrive for my tour or excursion?

Plan to arrive 30 minutes before your departure time so you’ll have time to park, check-in, use the washroom, get fitted for a life vest, get your gear stowed, take part in the safety briefing and be ready to go on time. If you miss the boat, there’s not much we can do other than try to rebook you.

What is your cancellation policy?

When we cancel any public trip or private charter: due to inclement weather, dangerous conditions, safety risks, mechanical, maintenance or other issues beyond our control, we'll gladly refund 100% of your original ticket price. Or you can choose to rebook your trip for a mutually convenient time and date.

When you cancel a reservation for a public trip: we will gladly refund 100% of your original ticket price if you cancel at least 2 days in advance of your trip. If you cancel less than 2 days in advance (or you miss your trip) we cannot provide you with a refund. However, you may rebook your trip for a future date with full credit of your original ticket price. Your rebooked trip must take place within one year of your original booking date.

When you cancel a charter reservation: if you cancel your charter at least 14 days in advance, we will refund your deposit in full. If you cancel less than 14 days in advance, we will hold your deposit while we try to rebook your booking slot for a comparable event(s) scheduled at the same time and date as your cancelled charter. If we can rebook a comparable event for your charter time and date, we will gladly refund your deposit on the cancelled charter. Please note that we cannot determine what your refund (if any) will be unless and until we are able to rebook your cancelled charter.

What is your privacy policy?

We're not big fans of junk mail, spam and unsolicited offers either. But we do need to collect certain information from you for our reservation system to work properly. This info includes your name and the names of others in your group, an e-mail address and phone number with text capability so we can reach you with itinerary changes, credit card payment info/billing address, etc. We may ask if you would like to receive offers or news from Aqua Adventure Tours. It’s your choice and we’ll respect both your choice and your privacy.
