Enjoy The Last of 2020 Outdoors - December 2020

This time last year the tourism industry was looking forward to what should have been a fantastic 2020. Things haven’t exactly worked out that way. I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to a hopefully much better year in 2021.

If there’s one positive to 2020, it’s that I’ve had some time to stand back and really look at Aqua Adventure Tours.  What works, what doesn’t and how to change things for the better.

For me the best place to think about that kind of stuff is outdoors. I’m lucky to spend a lot of time out there and on the water. I’m able to concentrate outdoors in a way that I just can’t when sitting in an office or a cube. Some of my best decisions and plenty of great memories have been made out there too!

If that’s true for you as well, I encourage you to get out and explore a little this month. Yes, December is traditionally one of the busiest months of the year. It’s easy to get overcommitted. There’s family, friends, work, holidays, events, activities, plus it gets dark damn early. I know.

But if EVER there was a year to find some time to get yourself outdoors, 2020 is it.  Here in Palm Beach, December offers glorious weather and beautiful sunsets.

You can explore the Loxahatchee River in late afternoon, then anchor and watch the moon come up over Jupiter Lighthouse.

Snorkel a rock reef and a sandbar while the sun is overhead and the water is nice and clear. Or get up early and look for manatees in the shallows of the ICW, and dolphins along the ocean beaches.

But you don’t need to live in Florida to get out there. If you live where the leaves have already dropped and the snow is flying, pick a still morning, bundle up and spend an hour or two on a peaceful walk.

Grab some binoculars, install Merlin’s Free Bird ID app and try some winter birding.

Relive a little of childhood and go buy a Christmas tree from a farm instead of from the parking lot of a home improvement store. Do something fun you’ve been meaning to try - cross country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing or even snowmobiling.

Here’s hoping the rest of 2020 goes your way and you can find some time to get outdoors and enjoy!
