US Coast Guard Inspection Complete - November 2020

Many thanks to US Coast Guard - Lake Worth for another successful topside and hull inspection! We had to reschedule several times d/t local COVID restrictions. But we’re officially ready for Palm Beach winter season!

It starts with lots and lots of paperwork. Documentation, registration, licenses, certificates, substance abuse and drug testing policies, procedures and program materials, vessel inspection checklists, logs, forms etc.

Settled on rack. Hull inspection up first, looking for damage, blisters and overall condition of exterior. Solid.

Topside we open all hatches and compartments for evidence of damage or water intrusion. We’re all good to go.

Systems that get an extra look include fire. We have a fixed extinguishing system custom designed for the boat. Portable extinguishers onboard. Just in case. All check out.

Fixed system and portables inspected and tested monthly by AAT. And then 2x a year by the pros. And once more by the USCG.

Fuel tank connections and emergency shut off valves, blower/venting system and fuel vapor detection system in this compartment are on the checklist too. We carry 135 gals in one tank. All check out.

Electrical too is a big focus. Clean, tight connections and everything working helps tremendously.

Checking ring buoy is in good shape, the strobe light works and the battery is valid are on USCG’s checklist too. Life vests stored just aft of the strobe.

Life vests on parade. We’re approved to carry 20 people so we carry a LOT of Type-I PFDs for the size of the boat! Minimum of 22 vests onboard.

Getting ready to pressure test inflatable tubes. We have 7 separate tube sections to fill with foot pump. Whew!

Inflation / deflation valve. Each of the tube sections has one of these plus an emergency pressure relief valve. These are all tested at least monthly and during CG inspection.
